The primary reason for creating regional base profiles is to handle regional adaptations of resources or national base profiles. Another reason is to add adaptations that should perhaps be handled at a national level, but where such profiles do not yet exist or have the needed adaption. Such work will be promoted to national initiatives and if possible incorporated into national base profiles, and then instead be inherited from there by the application that triggered the development.
Regional base profiles may contain adaptations for both reasons. More information can be found on each profile's respective page.
This implementation guide utilizes NamingSystem to manage the conversion between different types of identifiers (OID, URI) for the namespaces used for patient.identifier. More information on the use of NamingSystem can be found at Fireplace - NamingSystem.
NamingSystem resources included in the IG are provided as artifacts under terminologies and in the IG's machine-readable NPM-package.
This is an R4 IG. None of the features it uses are changed in R4B, so it can be used as is with R4B systems. Packages for both R4 (se.vgregion.fhir.base.r4) and R4B (se.vgregion.fhir.base.r4b) are available.
